Jamie Burt, Principal
Jamie.Burt@sd47.bc.ca Jamie Burt holds a Bachelor of Arts in History, a Bachelor of Education, and a Master’s in Educational Leadership, all from the University of British Columbia. He has worked at every school in our district and has spent almost 21 of his 24 years in qathet School District as a Principal or Vice-Principal.
Jamie’s passion for teaching started long ago and was inspired by both a love of children and team sports. Arriving in the region in 1988 as a teenager and member of the first ever Powell River Paper Kings, Jamie then went on to play competitive hockey in Canada and internationally, before coming back home to start a job as coach of the Kings.
Unifying a diverse group of people to work together for a common goal is a welcomed challenge for Jamie and by drawing on the parallels of his experience within team sports and the school environment, he has had great impact building teams.
Jamie’s reputation as an authentic relationship builder with people of all ages is second to none and creates rich environments where students can develop and flourish.
