Elissa Robb:
Elissa Robb is graduated from The University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in Psychology in 2010. She started her Master of Science degree in Audiology in the Fall of 2011. Her academic areas of interest include hearing loss, amplification, and assistive listening devices. Elissa has been involved in different research projects with the school's Amplification Lab and Pediatric Lab. Elissa has worked at the Western Institute for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (WIDHH) and as a teaching assistant for the Linguistics Department at UBC. Volunteering opportunities included the City of Burnaby's Kindergarten Hearing Screenings and UBC's Accessibility Service Learning Project. Elissa is proud to be the 2011 recipient of Phonak Canada's Graduate Entrance Award.
Elissa enjoys sharing her personal experiences with hearing loss, hearing aids, and assistive listening devices. She is a proud member of the Canadian Hard of Hearing Association (CHHA). Elissa would like to thank Dr. Penelope Bascfalvi for inviting her to be a part of this PRP-AO opportunity.
Penelope Bacsfalvi:
Penelope Bacsfalvi is a speech language pathologist teaching at the University of British Columbia and worked clinically for Auditory Outreach with children who are cochlear implant users, and their educational teams.
Penelope has conducted research related to speech habilitation for people who are hearing and deaf, and continues to mentor and co-supervise master's students on their thesis projects at the School of Audiology and Speech Science at UBC. This documentary film project was her 5th film project over the last several years.
