Academic Success

Academic growth and achievement is the core purpose of public education. Our students undertake studies in reading, writing, mathematics, social studies, science, physical education and health, second languages, and the arts.

Student achievement is reported on by a variety of means:

• At the Primary level measures of meeting expectations for age or grade level help to measure progress and achievement.
• At the Intermediate level measures of expectations for grade level are combined with letter grades to mark progress.

We realize that student attitudes and habits about learning are as equally important as academic ability in reaching individual potential

• make your school community the best it can be

These aspects are integrated throughout all our academic programs and are the key to developing a positive school climate. Social skills are learned and have to be taught and practiced. This responsibility is shared not only among teaching staff, but also among families and the community as well.

Student Code of Conduct

Our school code of conduct is derived from the B.C. Performance Standards and the expectations outlined therein. As a caring community of learners, we are all citizens of our classrooms, our school and our school community. We all have rights and responsibilities.

• We have a right to learn in our classrooms.
• We each have a responsibility We each have a responsibility to stay on task, follow instructions and not interfere with others' learning.
• We have the right to hear and be heard.
• We have a responsibility to listen to others and not interrupt them or make comments when they speak.
