Principal & Vice-Principal Bios

Jennifer holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts, a Post-Degree Professional Program in Secondary Education, and a Master’s in Educational Leadership from Queen’s University. She was a student in qathet School District from kindergarten through grade 12. 

Jen’s professional career began as a high-school teacher from 2009 to 2016, after which she transitioned into administration and served as a Vice-Principal at both secondary and elementary levels. Most recently, she held the position as Principal of Kelly Creek Community School from 2022 to 2024. 

Her leadership style is rooted in organization and a strong desire to create a sense of camaraderie, community, and team spirit. She aims to foster a positive and supportive environment for both staff and students, where everyone feels they belong, can freely share ideas and feedback, and work together towards common goals. Jen is motivated by the success of students, the motivation and value felt by staff, and the pride families take in their students’ achievements.  


Michelle Shipley, Vice-PrincipalMichelle%20Shipley.jpegMichelle holds a Bachelor's Degree in Child and Youth Care and has completed the Professional Development Program in Education.  

With over 10 years of experience in Special Education, Michelle has also worked in intermediate and middle school classrooms with a focus on reading intervention. 

Michelle’s leadership style is grounded in transformational principles, focusing on building strong relationships with families and staff to foster a supportive and inclusive community. She is dedicated to the growth of both students and colleagues, leads with compassion , and always prioritizes the needs of others. 

Supporting students and families in their academic journeys is what motivates Michelle every day. She enjoys connecting with people and getting to know families beyond the classroom. Michelle is committed to making their experiences as positive and engaging as possible during their time together and wants families to know they can always reach out to her for anything.
