French Immersion Students Perform Slam Poetry with Vincent Deslauriers

French Immersion students at Brooks had the opportunity this week to work with artist, writer, educator, and cultural facilitator Vincent Deslauriers. Students in grades 8 and 9 attended creative writing workshops, while those in grades 10 to 12 participated in classes focused on Slam Poetry. Students impressed everyone with their written words as well as their bravery in presenting their work in front of their peers. Themes of nature, climate action, and appreciation for our land emerged through as topics of interest. At the end of the event, Vincent performed some of his own poetry for the students.
Vincent is at James Thomson today and Monday to work with the grade 6 and 7 students.
