About Before and After School Care

qathet School District operates five licensed Before and After School Care programs for children in Kindergarten through Grade 5. All of our child care programs provide safe and nurturing care in a welcoming and familiar environment. Fun, interactive, and recreational activities are offered both before and after school. Please see the handbook below for more information!

Fees for 2025/2026

qSD participates in the BC Government's BC Child Care Fee Reduction Program for all licensed child care programs. 

All fees listed are after the fee reduction has been applied:

- Kindergarten Before and After School Care: Parents pay $8.40/day
- Grades 1-5 Before and After School Care & Seamless Day Kindergarten: $10/day

Fees are based on monthly registrations and payable at the beginning of the month. 
Fees can be paid online through the same esiKidz system that families register with.

qathet School District is committed to keeping child care affordable for families. All child care programs are licensed and therefore eligible for government subsidies, such as the Affordable Childcare Benefit (download this brochure for a step-by-step guidance on how to apply and more information). Families are encouraged to do online applications for the Affordable Child Care Benefit as the processing time is much faster. *See below for instructions on how to apply online for the Affordable Childcare Benefit that includes fees & hours of service needed to complete the application.

School Year Registration

Registration for all of our child care programs is done through esiKidz, which is a multi-functional child care software designed specifically for child care centres within Canada. EsiKidz follows federal and provincial regulations on storing data.

Families are welcome to register at esiKidz for a space in our child care programs at anytime. We use the waitlist to fill spaces as they come available. It is important to note that being placed on the waitlist does not guarantee a space.


At the end of March, we offer families enrolled in Before and After School Care program the opportunity to keep their spaces for the upcoming school year. Vacant spaces in the child care programs will be offered to families on our waitlist. 

Summer Child Care Registration

This year we are piloting a summer child care program at Westview! Registration is now open and families can apply now through EsiKidz. Once registered, program information will be shared. For more information, please email child.care@sd47.bc.ca 

Staffing

All our programs are staffed with caring and qualified staff members who often have other roles within the district such as Educational Assistants and meet requirements outlined by the Child Care Facilities Licensing Regulations. Students will always have access to somebody who has a valid First Aid Certificate while in the program.

*Applying for Affordable Child Care Benefit Online

Affordable Child Care Benefit (ACCB) - Childcare fees can be reduced up to the full cost of childcare for qualifying families. Approved funding will be allocated to your invoice from the month you open an application, so ensure you apply before the end of the month. 

Information required for online application:

• Main Applicant (Parent/Guardian): Create MyFamilyServices BCeID account, SIN number, and upload photo of government issued ID
• Type: Licensed Group Child Care
• Select Provider: (drop down menu) – Name of your Student’s School.  
• Start Date/ End date (June 30, 2026)
• Child Care Times
  1. Before Care 8:00 AM – 9:00 AM
  2. After Care 2:45 PM – 5:00 PM
  3. Edgehill Seamless Day Before Care (Kindy only) 7:30 AM – 9:00 AM
  4. Edgehill Seamless Day After Care (Kindy only) 2:45 PM – 5:30 PM
• Daily Fees 
  1. Before Care (Grades K – 5) $2.50 /per day
  2. After Care Grades (1 – 5) $7.50 /per day
  3. After Care (Kindy) $5.90 /per day
• Upload photo of Child’s government-issued ID (for example: birth certificate, Canadian Citizenship Card, passport, driver's licence, provincial identification, BC Services Card, Certificate of Indian Status Card).
• Second parent/ guardian’s birthdate and email address
• Both parents/guardians need to approve consent for Canadian Revenue Agency to provide tax information to ACCB program.

• Kelly Creek Community School Before and After School Care is managed independently from the school district. Please contact Kelly Creek Community School Association at (604) 487-9925 or thekccsa@gmail.com for information on space and registration.
• The district has four daycare facilities on school grounds and these centres are run independently by third party operators. Please contact these sites directly if you have any questions regarding care for children 5 and under.
