Healthy Habits for Cold and Flu Season
Cold and flu season is here. As a friendly reminder, here are some simple tips from our community health partner, Vancouver Coastal Health, to help keep your family and our school communities healthy:
- Encourage your child to wash their hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after using the washroom, blowing their nose, and before eating.
- Cough or sneeze into an elbow or tissue, dispose of used tissues in the garbage, and wash hands.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands.
- Avoid sharing food, drinks, or other items that have been in contact with someone else’s mouth.
If your child is sick, please keep them home until they feel well enough to participate in their usual activities. Children with vomiting or diarrhea should be symptom-free before returning to school.
