Guess My Career Event at Kelly Creek Community School
Career Week is a province-wide event in British Columbia celebrating career education in schools.
In honour of the occasion, qathet School District’s Career Pathways Coordinator, Tanya Larkin, hosted a special event yesterday at Kelly Creek Community School called “Guess My Career”. The event introduced students in Grades 4-7 to various career pathways through engaging interactions with professionals.
Students were encouraged to recognize their passions, follow their dreams, and always say yes to new opportunities!
The event featured five special guests representing diverse professions:
Paula Perry, RCMP
Ryan Hallett, Mechanical Maintenance Tradesperson
Kristy Payne, Communications Director
Lora Baker, Speech-Language Pathologist
Lisa Bhopalsingh, Chief Administrative Officer for the City of Powell River
Each guest came dressed in their work attire and brought tools of their trade. Students were given the chance to ask five questions per guest while attempting to guess their careers. The guests shared stories about their career journeys, what they enjoy about their jobs, and offered tips and advice.
A big thank you to our wonderful guests and enthusiastic students for such a fun and inspiring day!
