Today is International Women’s Day!

International Women's Day

International Women’s Day is a time to reflect on and celebrate the achievements of women in our schools, our community, and beyond. This year’s theme, #AccelerateAction, reminds us that while progress has been made, there is still a lot more to do.

According to data from the World Economic Forum, at the current rate of progress, it will take until 2158 to reach full gender parity. #AccelerateAction highlights the urgency of breaking down systemic barriers and biases that continue to hold women back.

As a school district, we play an important role in shaping a more equitable future by

  • Teaching students about gender equality and women’s rights;
  • Highlighting women’s achievements in various fields as well as providing leadership opportunities for every student across diverse fields, including STEM, trades, politics, arts and beyond.
  • The day can also encourage discussions about current challenges facing women and girls globally.

By fostering inclusivity, we empower students to challenge bias and drive meaningful change within their own schools and the broader community.
