StrongStart GO
StrongStart GO is an outdoor version of our amazing StrongStart program that is offered throughout qathet Region parks and playgrounds from October through to June. It is designed to provide rich learning environments for young children to participate with their caregiver. It focuses on early learning development in areas such as language, physical, cognitive, social, and emotional skills. Qualified early childhood educators lead these programs, offering activities where children can make friends and interact with peers
A Typical Day at the Program
For children aged 0-5 participating with their caregiver, a typical day includes:
- Outdoor Classroom: Engaging activities in an outdoor setting.
- Snack Time: A break for snacks and socializing.
- Circle Gathering: Reading, singing, dancing, and physical movement.
- Group Walk: A walk together to explore and enjoy the surroundings.
Finding the Location: You’ll know you’re in the right place once you see the StrongStart GO van.

Tips on How to Dress
One barrier to enjoying the outdoors is the clothes we wear. Key to comfort are layers, raingear and footwear. Layers help keep our body temperature comfortable, raingear protects from both wind and rain and footwear keep our feet comfortable.
- A backpack keeps supplies available while outdoors.
- Warm layers, kept ready in the car, make the ride home comfortable.
- A waterproof container, kept in your vehicle, is handy to transport wet clothes.
