Learning Assistance

Learning Assistance services are school-based services designed to support classroom teachers and their students who have mild to moderate difficulties in learning and behaviour. Learning Assistance provides a co-ordinated and integrated set of support services and instruction that includes school-based consultation, collaborative planning, and co-ordination with the school-based team. Learning Assistance Teachers typically help to organize, maintain, and integrate services in the school. Learning Assistance Teachers work collaboratively with classroom teachers to adapt coursework and assignments, as needed, and provide students with additional supports as outlined in the student’s IEP.

Services are accessed through the school-based team process or as outlined within individual education plans.
